College Attendance App

Developed and deployed a Flutter frontend and Node.js backend application on DigitalOcean for tracking college attendance. Implemented web scraping for real-time data acquisition, Firebase services for analytics and notifications, and WorkManager for local notifications. The app passed 3,500 downloads on Google Play in its first 2–3 months (236 % monthly growth) and stands at 6,500+ downloads since.

01The challenge

Students had no easy way to track their attendance, often leading to shortfalls and exam debarments. The college system was only accessible via a complex web portal.

02The solution

Reverse-engineered the college's attendance API and built a mobile-first experience with push notifications for low attendance warnings. Used WorkManager for reliable background syncs even when the app was closed.
